Apramycin (or Nebramycin II) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used in veterinary medicine. It is produced by Streptomyces tenebrarius. Apramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic useful against gram-negative bacteria such as E. coli and Salmonella species. It is used to study antibiotic resistance and protein synthesis translocation inhibition. Apramycin sulfate is freely soluble. Apramycin can be used to treat bacterial infections in animals caused by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Apramycin is a broad-spectrum aminocyclitol antibiotic produced by a strain of Streptomyces tenebrarius.Apramycin Sulfate use for the control of porcine colibacillosis (weanling pig scours) caused by strains of E. coli sensitive to apramycin. It is extracted from the fermentation medium as apramycin sulphate with a purity of at least 85%. A microbiological assay is used to determine activity as equivalents of apramycin base. Apramycin is synthesized stereospecifically by Streptomyces tenebrarius. It exists as a single enantiomer for which absolute configurations have been determined. Apramycin Sulfate Soluble powder is a water soluble preparation containing apramycin sulfate. Apramycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic of the aminocyclitol group, produced by the actinomycete Streptomyces tenebrarius. This compound is highly soluble in water, slightly soluble in the lower alcohols and essentially insoluble otherwise
