Bicyclomycin (Bicozamycin) is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against Gram-negative bacteria and the Gram-positive bacterium. bicozamycin benzoate) is a pro-drug to enhance oral absorption for aquaculture use. The pro-drug is hydrolyzed in the fish body stimulating the bactericidal activity of bicozamycin. Photobacterium damsela sp. piscicida and gram-negative bacteria that are not susceptible to other antibiotics are susceptible to Bicomarin*. This antibiotic is ineffective against gram-positive bacteria. Biclomycin is listed for digestive and respiratory diseases in cattle and septicaemias in fish.
