Butafosfan is an organic phosphorus compound used as an injectable source of phosphorus in animals that takes part in energy metabolism, replenishes serum phosphorus levels, supports liver function and stimulates fatigued smooth and cardiac muscle. Butafosfan is an organic phosphorus supplement that is given, most commonly with cyanocobalamin, to cattle, swine, horses, and poultry for the prevention or treatment of deficiencies.1 When given with cyanocobalamin, butafosfan alters lipid metabolism, serving to decrease the prevalence of subclinical ketosis. Butafosfan or Butaphosphan is a substance with the ability to treat or cure of metabolic disorders or as a tonic in swine. It reduces the stress-induced cortisol response after mixing of unfamiliar pigs. Together use with cyanocobalamin, Butafosfan or Butaphosphan can also increase milk production in Holstein cows.
