Dexamethasone also is used topically to treat a variety of skin and eye problems. Dexamethasone is a type of corticosteroid medication. It is used in the treatment of many conditions, including rheumatic problems, a number of skin diseases, severe allergies, asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease, croup, brain swelling, and along with antibiotics in tuberculosis. As supportive therapy, Dexamethasone may be used in the management of various rheumatic, allergic, dermatologic, and other diseases known to be responsive to anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. … The physical attitude of animals treated with Dexamethasone brightens and appetite improves, usually within 12 hours.
