Gentamicin sulphate is a glycoside bactericidal antibiotic made by linking amino sugars and ligands. It is gentamicin sulfate, and its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of kanamycin. It is mainly used for systemic or local infections caused by gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Ophthalmology is used for conjunctivitis and keratitis. Orally, it can be used for bowel infection or preparation before colon surgery; it can also be combined with metronidazole or clindamycin to reduce the rate of colonic surgical infection.
