Ronidazole is an antiprotozoal agent used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of histomoniasis and swine dysentery. It may also have use for the treatment of Tritrichomonas foetus infection in cats. Ronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic/antiprotozoal from the same family as metronidazole. It is toxic to protozoa by virtue of the disruption of protozoal DNA.
